Courtney Maddox and Keith Deese are the advisors for SkillsUSA at West Henderson High School. On April 9 – April 11, 2025 the students competed in “Greensboro, NC to compete at the State Leadership & Skills Conference for SkillsUSA. They competed in a combination of live events & project events while they were there & I promise made our schools proud! Every student put their best foot forward to not only represent our schools but our county as well,” Maddox said.
“To explain, live events consist of the students going to the competition, getting their competition parameters, & then having a set amount of time to complete the competition.
– So for our Cabinetmaking I live event participants had to build a tool tray in 4 hours following the provided plans.
– For the Cabinetmaking live event the participant had to build a mid-mod cabinet in 6 hours following the provided plans.
For the Cabinetmaking – Skill Project Showcase competition students use their knowledge of the topic & their learned skills to create a piece to display during the competition. They are not required to present their design to any judges so their project must speak for itself to showcase their ability,” said Maddox. Congratulations to all students involved.
